Reading Programs for Struggling Readers in 2nd Grade and Above

Readers of all ages can fall behind when literacy basics are lacking, but numerous studies demonstrate that well-designed, research-based instruction can help these struggling readers meet grade-level reading expectations. Aligned with the National Reading Panel, state reading standards, and Reading First guidelines, StudyDog Learning's Adventures in Reading series offers high quality interactive supplemental reading programs, ideal for introducing and reinforcing reading fundamentals for diverse learners.

Adventures in Reading: 2nd Grade Intervention covers the five key areas of reading instruction:
phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension

For intervention in the Primary grades, the Adventures in Reading series provides:

  • Complete supplementary literacy programs designed specifically for emergent and early readers
  • Alignment with the National Reading Panel, state reading standards, and Reading First guidelines
  • Open-ended skills practice – a strength of computer-based instruction
  • Highly interactive, engaging lessons with a built-in rewards system to encourage “stick-to-itiveness”
  • Differentiated instruction for individuals, small groups, or 1:1 tutorials
  • Curriculum Management module to customize or re-sequence individual lesson plans
  • Easy to use assessment, progress tracking and reporting for students, class, school, and district

Adventures in Reading helps you provide supplemental reading instruction – in the lesson sequence you specify – to every student in your classroom.

At the beginning of the program, each student is assessed and an optimum starting point is suggested. Adaptive lessons adjust the level of difficulty and repetition as students progress through activities in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. And because you need to track and measure results, the easy to use reporting module generates progress and completion scores at student, class, school and district levels.

Adventures in Reading conforms to research-focused federal and state funding requirements and is in use at over 3,000 schools, helping teachers strengthen their students’ reading achievement.
